Top drum and bass records for your music catalogue

Drum and bass records are a must-have for anyone building a music catalogue. Whether you are a collector of vinyl records or compact discs, drum and bass records will add range and depth to your catalogue and will no doubt increase in value over time.

Five drum and bass records for every catalogue

The top drum and base records of all time are debatable, depending on the individual doing the rankings, but there is no denying that these records should be a staple in any collection.

1.       Timeless by GoldieHe may dabble in acting from time to time, but Goldie, born Clifford Joseph Price, is credited with being one of the main grass root drum and bass records creators of all time. For a timeless collection, the Timeless record is definitely a piece that should be included.

2.       True Colours by High Contrast – Created by Welsh DJ and music producer Lincoln Barrett, this debut album was released in June 2002 on Hospital Records. The singles Global Love and Return of Forever found their way on to the UK Singles Chart.  Since then, he has released four (4) additional albums, and done a number of dance records with other artistes.

3.       New Forms by Roni Size – Winner of the Mercury Prize in 1997, beating out the Spice Girls, Roni’s Reprazent band is a force to be reckoned with. This record, a popular dance vinyl, was later rerecorded in 2008, just over a decade later. Roni and his band mates continue to produce more vinyl records with the hopes of making another New Forms hit.

4.       Power Ballads by London Elektricity – With just over 10 years in the business, Tony Colman, otherwise known as London Elektricity created Power Ballads in 2005. Tony was influenced by genres such as punk, jazz and rock, which are evident in his creations.

5.       Second Sun by Calibre – Call him Mr. Liquid Funk or Mr. Drum and Bass Records. Dominick Martin is Irish and started his production of music at a very tender age. Under the name Calibre, Second Sun was released in 2005 on Signature Records and has been credited as being a significant DnB dance records release.

Drum and bass records of the future

For those new to drum and bass, this genre is definitely poised for great things in years to come. Whether vinyl records or compact discs, it is definitely a good idea to start adding these records to your catalogue, or consider starting a music catalogue if you haven’t done so already.  As the sub-genres such as techstep to darkstep, sambas and liquid funk continue to grow, drum and bass records will definitely be around to stay.

Where to find inexpensive dance vinyl

If you are collecting records on a budget, there are a number of rare drum and bass records  that can be found for as little as 99p.

Until next time, keep enjoying drum and bass records!
